1_sMACAU – Tuesday, May 26, 2015:  Melco Crown Entertainment Limited (SEHK: 6883; Nasdaq: MPEL) (“Melco Crown Entertainment”, “MCE” or the “Company”), a developer, owner and operator of casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities in Asia, has always been keen on encouraging its staff to participate in local community events.  For nine consecutive years, Melco Crown Entertainment has participated in the Macau International Dragon Boat Races, one of the most important international sports events in Macau. The Company believes that this is an essential and effective mean to get close with the community and boost the team morale at the same time.  A group of 40 staff athletes joined the Auspicious Ceremony on May 22, 2015 at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Center as they sought blessings for new heights in this year’s races.

2_s 3_sThe Ceremony was officiated by Mr. Lawrence Ho, Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Crown Entertainment; Mr. Ted Chan, Chief Operating Officer; Ms. Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility Officer and Ms. Constance Hsu, General Manager of Altira Macau and other executives of the Company.  As part of the traditional ritual, Mr. Lawrence Ho dotted the dragon’s eye and the athletes plunged into the dragon boats and paddled.  A long string of firecrackers was set off for good luck, followed by cutting of a suckling pig.  The ceremony adjourned with Mr. Lawrence Ho presenting red pockets to each of the athletes as a form of encouragement and blessing for their upcoming success in the races.

Last year, Melco Crown Entertainment Dragon Boat Team achieved the first runner-up in the Macau Small Dragon Boat Open Race-200m and the second runner-up in the Macau Standard Dragon Boat Open Race-500m.  This year, Melco Crown Entertainment Dragon Boat Team will hit the water again with 44 staff athletes on three boating teams, two to compete in the Macau Small Dragon Boat Open Race and one in the Macau Standard Dragon Boat Open Race.   Of the 44 staff athletes on the Melco Crown Entertainment Dragon Boat Team, 95% are local Macau staff.
